NORTHERN CALIFORNIA HOME TO PAR 90 GOLF COURSE
REDDING LIFESTYLES, REDDING RECREATION, SHASTA COUNTY
September 12th, 2008
None other than John Daly would attach his name to a 10,000+ yard golf course near Redding. That’s right, all 18 holes at Sevillano Links can be played as par 5 if you’re up to the challenge. If not, this course can also be played as a more conventional 72-par with only 5500 yards. Located in Corning, a 45-minute drive south of Redding, is a highland-links style course similar to those found in Scotland where golf originated.
The course spreads over 400 acres of rolling grasslands with ponds and more than 50 bunkers. The course is covered with a combination of Bermuda grass and bluegrass in the rough. Bent grass is utilized on the greens. Numerous tee boxes allow you to determine the challenge right for your game. On Par 3, Number 14, five tee boxes allow you to choose between 214,206,198,145 or 116 yard distances to the hole.
Trees will not be a problem on this course since it is nearly treeless. Plenty of blind shots and water hazards to challenge even the scratch golfers out there. I had never heard of a par 90 golf course before this course was built a few years ago. It is adjacent to the Rolling Hills Casino west of I-5 near Corning.
