JANYA THAI KITCHEN OPEN FOR BUSINESS
REDDING LIFESTYLES, SHASTA COUNTY
September 11th, 2008
Yesterday, my wife and I visited the newest Thai food restaurant in Redding. The dining area is fresh and clean and roomy. The menu is extensive. Prices are reasonable. Appetizers run $5-$8, soups $7-$9 and entrees $6-$9.
We sampled the Spring Rolls which were quite tasty. My wife ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and I had their Thai Spicy Pan Fried Noodles. The entrees were served with a small green salad with a light oil and vinegar dressing. The generous entree portions were a challenge to finish but we managed to eat more than half and take the rest home for dinner.
The word must be out in the Thai community because several tables of lunch guests looked like they were from Thailand. All the dishes we saw served looked yummy. I’m not a Thai food expert but I will be back. The table comes equipped with several jars of spicy condiments. Chopsticks are provided for those that are capable. My entree was very tasty and spicy but not overly spicy. My wife’s dish was quite tasty too. Several patrons ordered iced drinks that looked quite delicious. One was Thai Iced Coffee and the other looked like a mint soda. I ordered an ice tea but never got one. I don’t think the waitress had that beverage available because she looked puzzled and never brought me a beverage.
]The ice water with lime was refreshing. While paying the bill (about $20), I peered into the kitchen and it looked immaculate. If you like Thai food, give Janya a try. It is located in Cobblestone Court near Raley’s on Hartnell Ave. They are open 7 days a week serving lunch and dinner.
